Clinical Supervision
BEVERLEY & ONLINE
My training is in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, and I am also a Group Work Practitioner. I have experience in staff supervision in the NHS and social care settings, including forensic settings. I offer supervision and group supervision to trainee psychotherapists and counsellors, as well as qualified professionals working in private practice and other organisations.
Clinical supervision consists of meeting with another professional (usually more senior) to discuss patient material and other professional issues in a confidential, structured way. The primary purpose is to offer support and a reflective space.
While the client is at the heart of supervision, the sessions will also focus on the supervisee’s well-being and professional development, offering a safe, confidential space to discuss any concerns about their work. The aim is to provide an opportunity to focus on the positive aspects of supervision, the supervisees and the safety and accountability to clients. It is a space to explore challenges, acknowledge progress and to ensure that the work with clients is safe, ethical, and effective.
Whilst supervision is supportive, it is not therapy. However, as with therapy, it is important to emphasise that the success of supervision depends on the quality of the relationship between the supervisor and supervisee.
